A connection with faculty

Tony Sindt

It was never about “just fishing” for Tony Sindt (animal ecology). Instead he was focused on informing others of effective conservation efforts in Iowa’s watersheds, especially when those waters were home to rare stream fishes. When it came time to build his expertise, he chose Iowa State where he knew there would be plenty of connections to fisheries experts.

Students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have the opportunity to connect with faculty researchers who are experts in their field. Programs like Science with Practice or Honors offer means to connect students with faculty to collaborate on cutting-edge research that will impact the world.

Tony has presented his findings at major events including the Midwest Student Fisheries Colloquium. Whether it is spending time in the field or in the lab analyzing data, Tony made the most of his connections with a variety of natural resource professionals.
