Nick Battles (global resource systems, agriculture and society) was inspired to make the world a better place as a Borlaug-Ruan Intern for the World Food Prize Foundation. So he was excited to find out that many faculty at Iowa State had the same passion.
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is the proud home of the global resource systems major. This unique major, the only of its kind, studies the way the world uses limited resources to create sustainable systems. Through a required, eight-week global internship, students see first-hand how fields interact on a global scale.
After spending two months as an intern at an NGO in Gurugram, India, Nick was sure the global resource systems major at Iowa State was the perfect fit for him. With the ability to tie together his aspirations in agriculture, policy, and international affairs, Nick is ready for more life-changing experiences.
