The day before genetics students start classes at Iowa State, they head to adviser Dr. Lois Girton’s house for ice cream. But this student get-together isn’t about hot fudge and sprinkles. It’s about getting to know each other and campus. Because Dr. Girton has a trick to help students get to know their new community – they have to use CyRide to get to her house.
Each learning community offers its own adventures that make students feel at home at Iowa State. For genetics students it’s ice cream. Follow your interests to be a part of the community and see how your major welcomes you to your new home away from home.
