Rebecca Jardon (dietetics) and the Student Dietetic Association saw an unused spot of land just north of campus. Always looking for a project, the group adopted the unused garden plot with the intent make a summer garden full of fresh produce.
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has a variety of clubs related to both academic majors and outside interests. Both offer students the opportunity to take their learning outside the classroom and add to their resume meaningful projects and interactions.
"We're really excited to do something different — a healthy, sustainable, service-oriented project. And we might learn more about gardening in the process,” Rebecca said. Though she’s not much of a gardener, Rebecca knows that fresh produce is a treat for those in need, with extra nutrition benefits for the takers. And that, she can take to the bank.
