My interest in animal science stems from growing up on a family farrow-to-finish hog farm. I chose Iowa State University for its great academics, but getting involved in student-run organizations on campus and industry-related internships have provided skills beyond the classroom.
I have taken on various roles, which have allowed me to interact with leaders in the agricultural industry. Industry-related internships have also been an integral part of my experience as a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences student.
Leadership, networking and responsibility are three valuable skills I have gained during my adventure at Iowa State.
After graduation, I will be working for Cargill as a pork field manager. It will be a rewarding career for me because I honestly enjoy working with farmers and can’t imagine another career.
The agriculture industry needs to promote its story through its great producers. My goal is to use my talents to work with producers to help the industry continue to grow and succeed. The future is bright for agriculture, and I am determined to be a leader and an educator within it.
