Skaar Receives Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award

Brad Skaar, Animal Science, Iowa State UniversityBrad Skaar, associate professor in animal science, is the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. For more than 35 years, Skaar has taught in classrooms at Iowa State focusing on beef cattle production, curriculum and outcomes assessment and beef cattle genetics. He has a progressive teaching strategy that is centered around experiential learning, including hands-on learning with livestock from the ISU teaching farms. 

Skaar has crafted a career of service to students at Iowa State through more than 14 different courses, several of which he created. He has led the department on more than one curriculum revision effort and was named fellow in the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, co-chairing preparations for Iowa State’s Higher Learning Commission Accreditation review.
