About the Office of the Dean
The college has 14 academic departments deeply engaged in teaching, research, extension, outreach, and service. It has approximately 750 faculty and staff, and 4,500 students. The college has a comprehensive curricular, discovery and engagement portfolio that makes it one of the most accomplished and highly ranked of its kind worldwide. The outlook of the college is a reflection of the globally leading agricultural economy of Iowa, and its community and natural resource bases. Activities include wide-ranging international engagement, integrated public-private partnerships, service-learning, collaboration, and a thorough commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. Multiple college farms cover diverse agricultural systems on 17,000 acres. There are satellite campuses in Uganda, US Virgin Islands, and Montana. Its faculty ranks include internationally recognized scientists, educators, inventors and thought-leaders.
