Carolyn Lawrence-Dill

A native of Texas, Dr. Lawrence-Dill’s research focuses on team science approaches to computing gene function and phenotype for crops. Before joining ISU, she worked as a research geneticist and lead scientist for the Maize Genetics and Genomics Database at USDA-ARS. She earned a bachelor's degree from Hendrix College and a master's degree from Texas Tech University. Her doctoral degree from the University of Georgia, where she studied maize chromosomes during cell division. Lawrence-Dill served as the elected Chair and DOGE of the graduate Interdepartmental Bioinformatics and Computational Biology program, co-founded a graduate specialization that spans six majors, and serves on various boards, including the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center.
