September 27th, 2022
AMES, Iowa – Katie Stutsman, of West Des Moines, has been named the 2022 Emerging Iowa Leader Award honoree by Iowa State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The award was presented Sept. 3, during the CALS BBQ at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center in Ames.
Stutsman is a regional account manager for Corteva Agriscience. She received bachelor’s degrees in agricultural business and economics from Iowa State in 2009.
“Katie is a tremendous early-career professional and advocate for the college and for Iowa agriculture,” said Daniel J. Robison, holder of the endowed dean’s chair in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. “She truly embodies the spirit of ongoing service as an alumnus through her representation of the college as a Council for Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching delegate, a rising star in her work with industry, and through the leadership and empowerment she provides to fellow agricultural professionals.”
As a member of the Council for Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching, a national grassroots organization, Stutsman and the other delegates advocate for national support and understanding of the land-grant university system’s food and agricultural research, extension and education programs.
Other leadership roles Stutsman has taken on include serving as a board member and membership committee chair for the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, as well as chairing the showcase committee for the Agribusiness Association of Iowa. Previously, she was the community relations and membership chair for Young Professionals in Ag.
The Emerging Iowa Leader award is presented to alumni of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences who have made significant impacts as leaders early on in their careers. Selection is based on efforts to improve agriculture and life sciences in Iowa through communications, education, relationship-building, engagement and outstanding alumni service to the college. Recipients must be 40 years of age or younger at the time of nomination and reside in Iowa.
