ISU Professor Chosen for National Institutes of Health Research Group

AMES, Iowa — Alicia Carriquiry, Iowa State University statistics professor, has accepted an invitation to serve as a member of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) group that reviews scientific research. She will serve on the Kidney, Nutrition, Obesity and Diabetes Study Section in the NIH Center for Scientific Review. Her term begins immediately and will end June 30, 2008. Study sections review and make recommendations on NIH grant applications and survey the status of research in their fields of science. Members are selected on the basis of demonstrated achievements in their disciplines, such as research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and professional honors. Carriquiry, a native of Uruguay, joined Iowa State in 1990. She earned a doctorate in statistics and animal science from Iowa State in 1989.
