AMES, Iowa — Steve Hoff, professor in the Iowa State University agricultural and biosystems engineering department, has been inducted into the Rural Builders Hall of Fame.
Hoff was honored at the National Frame Builders Association's Frame Building Expo 2007 that met in Indianapolis Feb. 28 to March 2.
At the induction ceremony, Hoff was recognized for making "a tremendous impact in the building industry in two main efforts: educating students and assisting builders with siting for new construction. He teaches wood structural design and ventilation design courses, and his students go on to be professionals in the building industry, allied industries and consulting firms."
He also was cited for his involvement in builders' workshops, advising contractors on ventilation, state regulations and siting. "His work with siting models has helped swine buildings be sited in more suitable locations, minimizing controversy and avoiding situations where builders could face lawsuits," according to the organization.
The National Frame Builders Association represents post-frame construction, manufacturing and marketing companies and code and design professionals.
