Farmstead Building Plans on CD-ROM from MWPS (Midwest Plan Service)

A Farmstead Planning Handbook: Guidelines for Planning and Expanding Agricultural Facilities and Operations, is available on CD-ROM from MWPS (MidWest Plan Service) at Iowa State University. The handbook provides guidelines from concept to construction of farm office, shop and storage areas. It covers location, planning, building and expanding on agricultural sites or acreages. The information also addresses related issues such as odor, dust control and safety. More than 100 drawings, photographs, diagrams and tables are used to illustrate the descriptions. Contributing authors include: Don Jones, professor of agricultural and biological engineering at Purdue University, Brian Holmes, professor of biological systems engineering at the University of Wisconsin and Ted Funk, professor of agricultural and biological engineering at the University of Illinois. The CD is available for $20 plus shipping and handling. MWPS is located on the campus of Iowa State and is an educational publishing consortium of 12 universities and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The consortium provides science-based, peer-reviewed, low-cost and free information and building plans to agricultural professionals, agribusinesses and homeowners.
