Drainage Research Forum and Field Day to be Held Aug. 14

AMES, Iowa — The fourth Annual Drainage Research Forum and Agricultural Drainage Well Research Project Field Day will be held on Aug. 14 near West Bend. Researchers from Iowa State University, University of Minnesota, University of Illinois, Ohio State University and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship will be available to discuss drainage issues. Researchers will present research summaries on drainage practices and impacts on nutrient management. Registration is required for the daylong session, beginning at 9 a.m., to be held at Park View Inn and Suites Conference Center in West Bend. An evening field presentation will be held at the agricultural drainage well site two miles west and one mile north of Gilmore City. The program begins at 5 p.m. and preregistration is not required for this session. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss drainage issues related to nitrogen, herbicides, crop production, wetlands and agricultural drainage well closures.
