College of Agriculture Associate Dean Honored at FFA Convention

The Honorary American FFA Degree was presented to Eric Hoiberg today at the 77th National FFA Convention being held in Louisville this week. The award is presented to those who advance agricultural education and FFA. Hoiberg is the associate dean of academic programs in the College of Agriculture at Iowa State University. Hoiberg received his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Nebraska. He came to Iowa State as an assistant professor of sociology in 1974 and became associate dean in 1995. The national FFA organization includes more than 460,000 student members representing 7,194 chapters from 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA youth organization prepares student members for leadership careers in science, business and technology.
