AMES, Iowa — Hundreds of job recruiters will be looking for employees Oct. 9 when the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University holds its fall career fair.

This event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lied Recreation Center, 518 Beach Road in Ames. It is open to the public as well as Iowa State students and alumni.

“Despite the turbulent economic conditions in the agricultural industry, we’re encouraged with the response we have seen from our industry partners. I'm confident we will exceed last year's number of participants,” said Mike Gaul, director of agriculture and life sciences career services.

The Agriculture and Life Sciences Career Day has so far attracted about 260 organizations and Gaul expected to at least reach last year’s 265. He said last year the college hosted 850 job interviews the day following the career fair.

It remains the largest career fair of its kind in the country. A list of the organizations recruiting can be found at:  https://www.career.cals.iastate.edu/cals-career-day

Placement for undergraduates in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences hit a record 99.2 percent this year, Gaul said. And it has been 97 percent or higher for 20 consecutive years.

The college has the third largest undergraduate student body among agricultural colleges in the nation.
