Agriculture and Life Sciences Career Day at Iowa State University Set for Oct. 8

AMES, Iowa – October 8 kicks off the job recruitment season for students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University.

More than 260 employers and recruiters will seize the opportunity to acquire young talent for their organizations at the college’s annual fall career fair.

Additionally, representatives from at least 30 new, diverse organizations will be in attendance, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Sugar Corporation, J.R. Simplot, Scripps Research Institute and other life sciences firms and employers.

“This the largest event of its kind in the country. It’s as plain as day that these companies hold our students in incredibly high regard,” said Mike Gaul, director of career services at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. “Given what’s going on in the agricultural economy right now, I really hope people stop to think that so many organizations participating in our career day is pretty darn amazing.”

Career Day is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Iowa State’s Lied Recreation Athletic Center. It is open to all Iowa State students and alumni as well as the general public.

A list of organizations recruiting at the event is at: https://www.career.cals.iastate.edu/cals-career-day.

Many recruiters will arrive the day before Career Day to participate in departmental recruitment events. More will stay an extra day to conduct on-campus interviews. Gaul said the day after Career Day is typically the busiest interview day of the year, with more than 650 interviews taking place last year.
