This morning, Joe Colletti sent the following message to CALS faculty and staff members. A news release on his appointment to interim dean of the college, effective Nov. 20, was also distributed this morning.

Dear CALS Faculty and Staff:

I want to take a moment and thank President-Select Wintersteen and Provost Wickert for this opportunity to lead CALS during the search for a new dean.

Even though I have been on campus for nearly four decades, it is no less humbling to be chosen for this important position. It’s an exciting opportunity, and I look forward to working with you to maintain CALS’ reputation as one of the world’s best and most impactful colleges focused on agriculture and life sciences.

Thanks to all of your hard work every day, our college has a solid foundation to build on for the future. Of course, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the strong leadership of Wendy Wintersteen. Her selection as Iowa State’s 16th president is a tremendous endorsement of her leadership of the college. I also believe it reflects the leadership and commitment to mission represented in departments and units throughout the college. I am excited for her tenure.

Again, I look forward to this opportunity to serve, and thank you for the work you do for CALS and Iowa State University.

Joe
