Students encouraged to submit abstracts for 2025 Borlaug poster competition

Poster abstracts are now being accepted for the 22nd Annual Norman Borlaug Lecture Poster Competition for Graduate and Undergraduate Students. The competition and display of posters will take place Tuesday, Oct. 21, on the ground floor of Curtiss Hall at Iowa State University, prior to the Norman Borlaug Lecture featuring 2025 World Food Prize Laureate Mariangela Hungria.

Submitted poster abstracts should describe work or projects in the general area of world issues, including food, agriculture, climate, nutrition, economies, technology, and more.

To submit a poster abstract, complete the Borlaug Poster Competition submission form by Sept. 30, at 11:59 p.m. Students selected to present their posters at the Borlaug Poster Competition will be notified via email by Oct. 8.

This year’s poster session and lecture will be held in Curtiss Hall during the following timeframes:

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Poster session and judging, ground floor hallways of Curtiss Hall
  • 7:30-8:30 p.m. – Borlaug Lecture, Dolezal Auditorium, 0127 Curtiss Hall
  • 8:30 p.m. – Poster winners announced

Student presenters are required to be present for the Borlaug Lecture and the awards ceremony. Reserved seating will be available during the lecture for all poster presenters.

Prizes of $200, $150 and $100 for undergraduate and graduate student competitions are made possible with funds provided by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The Borlaug Poster Competition is coordinated by Iowa State’s Nutritional Sciences Council.
