What are the goals and missions of the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies Club?

The goal of the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies Club is to increase Iowa State students’ knowledge of people and policy challenges related to agriculture by providing programs and events that highlight them. We aim to assist members in networking with state and federal elected officials and to provide opportunities to help pre-agricultural law students get into law school.

When and where does the club meet?

The club meets on the third Wednesday of the month, usually in 311 East Hall. We send out reminders through email and post details on our Instagram page, @agpolicyclub_isu.

What opportunities does the club have for students to get involved? Leadership?

Since our club is fairly small, there are plenty of leadership opportunities. As of right now, we have nine leadership positions.

What are some club events, activities or fundraisers?

An event our club is proud to provide is our annual Capitol Spring Day Trip, where we meet with our state legislators. Last year, we met with senators, representatives and the governor's agriculture and energy policy advisor.

Who can join the club? Are there any requirements?

Anyone can join the club; we only ask that you come with a willingness to learn new things and participate!

What makes the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies Club fun and unique?

Something that makes our club unique is the opportunities we can provide due to our close-knit network of members, advisors and alums and the connections we have to industry professionals related to agricultural policy.
