AMES, Iowa - The director of college relations for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University received a national award August 7 from the Association of Communications Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences (ACE).
Brian Meyer was presented the ACE Professional Award during the association’s annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The award is the highest honor presented by the association.
“I can't think of anyone more deserving of this honor than Brian Meyer. He has been a mentor to many. He has willingly shared his time and talents with colleagues through workshops and presentations. He has raised the bar for the entire ag communications profession," said Suzanne Steel, ACE president. Steel is assistant director of marketing and communications at The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
Iowa State University President and former dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Wendy Wintersteen was one of Meyer’s nominators.
“Brian is one of the most creative and talented people I know. His writing skills enable him to address complex and controversial issues effectively. He also is a team builder and collaborates with other communications specialists to ensure that a consistent, clear message for Iowa State University is delivered,” said Wintersteen.
Meyer is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in journalism and mass communication. He has served as director of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences communications service since 2001. He first joined the college in 1990.
ACE is an international association of communicators, educators and information technologists with land-grant roots dating back to 1913. The organization offers professional development and networking for individuals who extend knowledge about agriculture, natural resources and life and human sciences.
