Intern Exposed to Agricultural Communications

Arneisha Smallwood is from Edenton, North Carolina and recently graduated from North Carolina A&T State University. Smallwood is working with Kathleen Hunt, an agricultural education and studies assistant professor, researching a social network analysis of agricultural communications. Smallwood said the experience is providing her with the skills to work with people from various backgrounds.

What is the purpose of your research?
“We’re trying to determine if agricultural organizations are truly advocating for their members through their mission statements that they post on social media.”

Do you see yourself having a future career in this field?
“Possibly, I’ll be attending graduate school in the fall so my main goal is to obtain my master’s degree.”

What is something you’d like to scratch off of your bucket list?
“Rock climbing.”

What do you like most about Ames?
“The people that I’ve met here.”
