Intern Explores Sudden Death Syndrome

Kara Wilson is from Jacksonville, North Carolina and attends North Carolina A&T State University. Wilson is working with Madan Bhattacharyya, an agronomy professor, and Micheline Ngaki, a postdoc research assistant, researching transgenic plants and their resistance against the sudden death syndrome pathogen. Wilson enjoys being able to work in the lab as well as spending time in the greenhouse. Wilson hopes to pursue an occupation with a landscape design company after graduating in 2017.

What words of advice do you have for someone who has a passion for science?
“Try exploring different fields of science and try gaining hands on experience.”

If you could have one superpower related to science, what would it be?
“To be able to control plants.”

What is something you wish to scratch off of your bucket list?
“Go to Japan and learn their culture first hand, such as the tea ceremony and flower arrangements.”

Who is your role model and why?
“My dad because he always gives me good advice and supports me as well as my decisions.”
