Students Nominate Donald Lewis for Online Teacher of the Year

Donald Lewis, Iowa State University professor of entomology, was nominated by his student for the Ag Online Teacher of the Year award. Lewis is in charge of Iowa’s extension urban entomology programs.

AMES, Iowa - Donald Lewis was named the Ag Online Teacher of the year by the Iowa State University Brenton Center for Agricultural Instruction and Technology Transfer.

The award is based on student feedback. This is the second year the award has been presented as part of National Distance Learning Week.

Lewis, an Iowa State University professor of entomology, began teaching online classes in 2009. Four years ago he had 39 online students in his classes, and this fall 96 students were enrolled.

Along with teaching, Lewis is in charge of Iowa’s extension urban entomology programs. He provides Iowa State’s outreach insect pest management education for home and commercial producers, which include vegetable, fruit, landscape, turfgrass, greenhouse and household pests.
