BioCentury Research Farm Manager Hired

Andrew Suby

AMES, Iowa — Andrew Suby has joined Iowa State University's BioCentury Research Farm as manager. The BioCentury Research Farm's processing facility is scheduled to begin operations next month adjacent to Iowa State's Agricultural Engineering and Agronomy Research Farm west of Ames.

The farm provides a central location to research biomass crop production, harvesting, storage, transportation and processing. The farm will be dedicated this fall.

Suby will work with Lawrence Johnson, director of the facility and Iowa State professor of food science and human nutrition, to prepare and maintain the biorenewables production and processing research facility for research projects.

Suby said the first project will examine the process that turns biomass into bio-oil. Suby previously worked for Ames-based Frontline BioEnergy as a mechanical engineer and manager of pilot plant operations. He earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State in 1998 and a bachelor's degree in physics in 1995 from Central College.
