Kargol Receives P&S Outstanding Advisor Award

Amber Kargol, Food Science and Human Nutrition, Iowa State UniversityAmber Kargol, academic advisor in food science and human nutrition, is the recipient of the Professional and Scientific Outstanding Advisor Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. Kargol advises 182 students in five of the food science and human nutrition majors. She also co-coordinates the department’s first year learning community, connecting students to each other, faculty and the department. Kargol mentors students who are involved in the FSHN and CALS Ambassador programs, serve as peer wellness educators and are active with product development teams. 

In order to provide her students with excellent service, Kargol is committed to her own professional development and professional service. She is active in the University Academic Advising Committee’s Professional Development Committee as well as the National Academic Advising Association.
