Cover Crop and Saturated Buffer Field Day near Walcott, November 17

The public is invited to a field day near Walcott, Iowa, that will feature cover crops and a saturated buffer, Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 12:00-2:00 p.m., hosted by the Iowa Learning Farms, the Iowa Nutrient Research Center, IIHR-Hydroscience and Engineering, Iowa Geological Survey and Partners of Scott County Watersheds. The field day will begin at Paustian Farms, 6520 215th St, Walcott, IA 52773. The free event includes a complimentary meal. Virtual Field Day - Increasing Water Quality Enhancement Wetlands and Oxbows

Iowa Learning Farms, ithe Iowa Nutrient Research Center, and Conservation Learning Group (CLG) will present a virtual field day on the benefits of increased water quality enhancement wetlands and oxbows in the Midwest on Thursday, October 21 at 1 p.m. CT. Join us as we explore a few different wetlands and oxbows in the state and discuss funding programs. We will look at how these water quality enhancement wetlands and oxbows can be used as part of risk management and nutrient reductions plans, and provide needed wildlife habitat in key locations. This highly interactive virtual field day will be a discussion between landowners, scientists, wildlife specialists and virtual field day participants.

Iowa Water Center Conference

This year's virtual Iowa Water Conference, "Building Resilience for Water and People," will be held, April 6-8. 

The conference includes a breakout session panel on Iowa Nutrient Research Center: Current Research and Research Impacts, Wednesday, April 7, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.. Panelists will be INRC Assistant Director Kay Stefanik, with Iowa State University faculty Chaoqun Lu, ecology, evolution and organismal biology, Marshall McDaniel, agronomy, and Michelle Soupir, agricultural and biosystems engineering. 

ISU Research Farms Virtual Field Days

Hear about the latest research being conducted on ISU Research and Demonstration Farms across the state during a series of short, interactive webinars, Monday, Aug. 31, through Friday, Sept. 4. Tours begin each day at 8:00 a.m. ISU Extension Specialists, including INRC Director Matt Helmers (on Tuesday, Sept. 1) will take you into the field, explain what they're seeing and answer your questions. Each morning tour stop features 20 minutes of in-field video, drone footage and presentation. Presenters will be available following the tour to take questions from attendees.
