INRC Spring 2022 Seminar Series: Phosphorus Forms and Cycling in Agricultural Soils of Southern Saskatchewan

Event
Wednesday, February 23, 2022 - 3:10pm

INRC Spring 2022 Water Quality Research Seminar Series: Focus on Phosphorus
Presenter: Barbara Cade-Menun
is a research scientist, with Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Swift Current Research and Development Centre, Swift Current, SK, Canada

Phosphorus (P) is an essential nutrient and many crops require P fertilization for optimum yield, but loss of P from soils can cause water quality problems. Soil P exists in many chemical forms, which can influence P availability to crops and loss in runoff. This presentation will show some of Cade-Menum's research into soil P forms and cycling, including P loss in snowmelt runoff and legacy P in a long-term fertilizer reduction study.
