INRC Research Seminar Series: Evaluation of Best Management Practices to Reduce Nitrate Loads Based on Watershed Characteristics, Baseflow Index and Groundwater Age

Event
Wednesday, February 24, 2021 - 3:00pm

Presenter: Aaron Mittelstet, assistant professor of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

His areas of research focus on the
(1) evaluation of land use (Redcedar encroachment), climate change and management practices on water quantity and quality using both surface and ground water models;
(2) surface/groundwater interaction and the variability of streambed hydraulic conductivity both spatially and temporally; and
(3) effectiveness of streambank stabilization and restoration projects on streambank retreat, and monitoring erosion/deposition real time to improve understanding of the erosional and depositional processes
