Cities and Storms: Challenges and Solutions" Fobes Ronald Lecture

The lecture, “Cities and Storms: Challenges and Solutions,” will be given by Dr. Jennifer Cherrier on Thursday, Nov 3rd at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Union Sun Room at Iowa State University. 

Cherrier, is a professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Brooklyn College-The City University of New York. She is also president and founder of Waterway Ecologics, LLC. Her 25+yrs of research expertise are in aquatic carbon and nitrogen biogeochemistry with a more recent focus on water resource sustainability and nature-based approaches for offsetting urban flooding as well as human impacts on marine and freshwater systems. 

In addition to the evening lecture, there will be a lunch panel discussion with Dr. Cherrier on Thursday, Nov 3rd at noon in the Memorial Union Sun Room. The discussion will be led by Dr. Lu Liu (CCEE) with additional panelists: Dr. Kaoru Ikuma (CCEE), Dr. Sara McMillan (ABE), and Dr. Hongli Feng (ECON). The panelists will discuss challenges, opportunities and solutions in urban water sustainability from engineering, social, and economic perspectives.All undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend the discussion.
