Members of Alpha Gamma Rho visit King Elementary in Des Moines once a month to teach kindergarteners about agriculture through lessons and activities as a part of the ISU 4U Promise program. AGR has planned a field trip for the kindergarteners on April 22 to visit the ISU Dairy Teaching Farm.

Mike Schrum finished his degree 22 years after he left. He says he did it to help his children and his co-workers understand the importance of education.
Schrum, who graduated in December with a degree in agricultural education and studies, says he always planned to come back.

Lauren Rosburg, a sophomore majoring in animal science and agriculture communications, has been selected as an intern at the 2018 Arizona Livestock National Show. She will help set up the show, take photos, manage the show's Facebook page, write six feature stories and most importantly, offer great customer service to those showing their animals and attending the show.

Rebecca Lyons, a 2018 December graduate in agricultural studies, launched Lunchsox, which sells kicky socks online with names like “vintage retro strawberry,” “rusty Tannenbaum” and “chocolate-toed Scandinavian,” with 100 percent of profits going to buy lunches for hungry kids.

Joi Latson, a senior in global resource systems, has been chosen to represent the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as the student marshal for the Iowa State University Fall Undergraduate Commencement. On top of maintaining great grades and being involved on campus and in the local community, she also had an internship abroad and completed the Peace Corps Prep program offered through Iowa State.

Riensche is broadening his international perspective in hopes to return to the family farm with ideas to make it even better.
