INSPIRE Day - honors Norman Borlaug the "Father of the Green Revolution"
The Norman Borlaug Heritage Foundation hosted its 10th annual INSPIRE Day on Sept. 18 in Cresco, Iowa to share Borlaug's legacy as the "Father of the Green Revolution."
More than 250 fifth graders students attended the event to interact with representatives from Iowa State University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; the University of Iowa's Hydroscience and Engineering department, the Iowa Corn Growers Association and The Outreach Program.
Raj Raman, an agricultural and biosystems engineering professor, shared information with students about plant breeding and genetics. Wendy Wintersteen, endowed dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and David Acker, associate dean of academics and global programs, also visited with students about Borlaug's research in agriculture and his impact on alleviating world hunger.

The Norman Borlaug Heritage Foundation also interviewed Kaleigh Koch, a junior in agricultural business. She shared her experiences from last summer as a Borlaug intern.
