Future Veterinarian Gains Experience

Sara VanAusdal is from Troy, Missouri and is currently studying at William Woods University. VanAusdal is working with Sue Lamont, an animal science professor, researching disease response and antibody production in chickens. This experience is a great fit for VanAusdal considering her interest in attending veterinary school after graduating in 2017.

How do you think this experience will help you with your future goals?
“It will give me experience with animals as well as lab skills and also a new personal experience.”

If you could have one superpower related to science, what would it be?
“My superpower would be to control time - so we wouldn’t have to wait so long for results.”

Where do you wish to travel?
“Australia and New Zealand.”

What do you like most about Ames?
“I like that it has a lot of agricultural influence.”

What words of advice do you have for someone who has a passion for science?
“I would advise them to take every opportunity to try something different as well as take every science class they can fit in their schedule before going to college.”
