Student team excels at Turf Bowl

Student team wins ninth Turf Bowl title in 10 years

The ISU Turf Club team representing the Department of Horticulture won its ninth Turf Bowl in the last 10 years. Undergraduates Zach Simons, Quincy Law, Jason Van Engen and Nick Dunlap took top honors at the 17th Annual Collegiate Turf Bowl competition held Feb. 10 at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Conference. They were awarded the traveling trophy and a $4,000 cash prize. The competition consists of a written exam, developed by superintendents, and a written essay. The exam focuses on all facets of the superintendent profession. The written essay is based on a business/financial case-study scenario. Each team submits one exam and essay, which is then graded by superintendents.
