The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University cordially invites you to attend the Inaugural George Washington Carver Symposium. The activity will be held during October 16-17, 2008 in the city of Diamond, Missouri. Travel, lodging, and registration costs will be provided to qualified students. This is an opportunity to learn about the history of GWC’s journey from birthplace to his one-room schoolhouse and to explore the relevance of his research in today’s world. Learn how to unleash the power of science in your life.
To qualify, the students must agree to submit a 2 page reflective essay on how the legacy of George Washington Carver has influenced their lives. The essay document is due on October 25, 2008 with its content written double spaced utilizing a clear font for easy reading. To participate, complete this application form by September 19, 2008 and return the document to Aurelio Curbelo in the Office of Multicultural Programs located on 23B Curtiss Hall or via email at acurbelo@iastate.edu.
