Dekkers Receives Outstanding Achievement in International Agriculture Award

Jack Dekkers, Animal Science, Iowa State UniversityJack Dekkers, C.F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in animal science, is the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in International Agriculture Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. Dekkers' international contributions include teaching and organizing international post-graduate courses; organizing international scientific conferences; training and hosting international graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting scientists; leading study abroad courses to the Netherlands, providing unique experiences on animal agriculture; development of international research collaborations, including with scientists and students in Tanzania and Ghana; participating in reviews of foreign institutions and programs; and giving invited scientific presentations in more than 12 countries. 

Dekkers has established himself as an internationally renowned scientist and educator in animal breeding and genetics. Through his contributions, he has internationalized the college’s education and research programs and enhanced its international reputation.
