High school educators are invited to select up to two high school juniors or seniors who are interested in culinary food science to participate in the Culinary Food Science Discovery Day - November 3, 2026 at Iowa State.
Registration will be available soon.
This day, hosted by the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, has something for teachers and students.
Teachers will have the opportunity for professional development engaging in round table discussions about food industry trends and regulations; touring on-campus labs; and learning about the culinary food science program and career paths. All attendees will receive a complimentary resource tool kit from Iowa State and a chance to win a Culinary Knife kit, all for the classroom.
Students will enjoy a hands-on experience engaging with current Iowa State students in the Culinary Food Science program; learning about food industry careers; and participating in hands-on activities. Students who attend the discovery day will receive a special invitation to participate in the spring Culinary Food Science Academy.
Schedule
The tentative schedule runs 8:30 am - 2:15 pm, with morning sessions, a group lunch (provided), and afternoon sessions. Complete details will be available in September.
