Nick Christians Receives Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award

Nick Christians, a University Professor in horticulture, received the Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award. For more than 40 years Christians has focused on turfgrass research and teaching turfgrass science to Iowa State students.

Christians wrote a textbook on turfgrass management, which has helped more than 700 turfgrass students become successful professionals. Those graduates now work at golf courses, athletic fields and in various other positions in the turfgrass industry.

Christians also advises the Turf Club, which has won 13 national championships from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. Many of his students, both undergraduate and graduate, have interned or worked at the most prestigious golf courses and athletic fields in the world.
