Powell is an advocate for learning-centered advising. She works with students to help them make informed decisions about degree plans and graduation requirements.
Students describe her as a dedicated advisor who creates a positive and welcoming environment. Jessica Wikstrom, a junior in animal science, said Powell is committed and attentive to all her students.
“She’s always aware of the details and often has back up plans to make things happen,” Wikstrom said.
Powell serves as a member of the transfer articulation committee, the recruitment and retention committee and the National Academic Advising Association. Her involvement in these areas allows her to better serve students through her resources and partnerships.
