Chamberlain Receives P&S Outstanding Advisor Award

Ben Chamberlain, student services specialist in agricultural education and studies, is the recipient of the 2022 Professional and Scientific Outstanding Advisor Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. In addition to being an academic advisor, he serves as the undergraduate advising coordinator. He organizes prospective student visits and the new student summer orientation program, is the lead instructor of the orientation course in the fall, and administers the departmental senior exit survey. Chamberlain serves on the college’s academic affairs committee as well as the transfer articulation committee.  He regularly visits community colleges in Iowa and neighboring states and annually updates more than 25 community college transfer plans for the department’s majors. 

Chamberlain is also active in the university community. He serves on the University Academic Advising Committee, EAB/Navigate leadership committee, Workday Student teams, is chair of the 100 Ideas in 100 Days transfer subcommittee, and board member for the Office of Student Conduct. In addition, he takes an interest in addressing the university’s diversity challenges and fostering a spirit of inclusivity on campus.
