The web URL inclusion of phrontistery, which means a thinking place, is fitting. The Logorrhea contains 15,550 words that range from uncommon to rare or nearly obsolete to nutty. The site also offers other resources, including two- and three-letter Scrabble words, language links, 40 glossaries and linguistic discussions. (Writing That Works, May 2007)

Hort Station Plants ISU-Developed Apple Trees

The Horticulture Station planted 125 Chieftain apple trees this spring. The new orchard will replace the Station's primary Chieftain orchard that was planted 40 years ago. The Chieftain apple is a cross of Jonathan (tart) and Delicious (sweet) apples developed by Iowa State horticulturists and released in 1968. The original cross was made in 1917 at Iowa State by Professor S.A. Beach. Chieftains survived the infamous 1940 Armistice Day freeze. The new orchard will be used for research and teaching activities.
