Employment Groups by Gender and Race/Ethnicity at ISU

Iowa State University Employees by Gender

At the end of 2018, there were slightly more women than men filling ISU positions in non-tenured faculty, P & S, and Merit positions. There were about twice as many men as women filling Tenured and Tenure-Eligible Faculty and Contract positions.

Iowa State University Employees by Race/Ethnicity, Gender, and Employment Type

At the end of 2018, white women and white men filled the vast majority of Faculty, P & S, and Merit positions at ISU. Numbers of graduate students indicate that more balanced representation by race/ethnicity and gender is occurring in graduate training, and this may provide the needed pool of qualified individuals to diversify higher education in the future. Minority women and minority men categories in this graph include both international and domestic.
