James Borel to Present Hertz Lecture at Iowa State University April 6

AMES, Iowa — James Borel, executive vice president of DuPont, will present the 2011 Carl and Marjory Hertz Lecture on Emerging Issues in Agriculture April 6 at Iowa State University. Borel will present "How Agricultural Innovation and Collaboration Will Shape the Future of the World" at 8 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. The event is free and open to the public. Drawing on his experience leading DuPont's production agriculture businesses, DuPont Crop Protection and Pioneer Hi-Bred, Borel will present ideas on how advances in agricultural science will play a major role in shaping the future of global society and addressing world hunger. Borel joined DuPont as a sales representative in 1978 after earning his degree in agricultural business from Iowa State. His career with the company has included numerous sales and management positions in agricultural products, DuPont Crop Protection and human resources, including posts in the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan. He was group vice president, responsible for agricultural businesses, before being named to his current position in October 2009. Borel is an ISU Alumni Association sustaining life member; Cyclone Club member; Order of the Knoll Campanile Society member; chair of the National 4-H Council's board; and a board member of CropLife International and the Farm Foundation. The Carl and Marjory Hertz Lecture on Emerging Issues in Agriculture was created in memory of the founders of Hertz Farm Management to inspire generations of industry leaders, research scientists and young professionals to reach their full potential. ##
