AMES, Iowa — For the second straight year, Iowa State University's meat and poultry program has been rated number two in the nation by Meat and Poultry magazine.
The ranking appears in the November issue of the magazine. The ranking identifies "which institutions are doing the most to provide the meat and poultry industry with savvy graduates and useful research information," said managing editor, Joel Crews.
The magazine credited the Iowa State program's high rating to the excellence of its extension short courses for industry and its food safety research.
The rankings were based on a survey of industry, and on a program's specific characteristics such as number of students and faculty and types of facilities.
Texas A and M University, College Station, was number one in the ranking.
