Equine Facilities Focus of MWPS (Midwest Plan Service) Book

A new book on building facilities to house, show, breed and raise horses is available from MWPS (MidWest Plan Service). The "Horse Facilities Handbook (MWPS-60)" offers the latest facts about planning and constructing facilities for all phases of equine management. The book includes site planning and plans for stables, paddocks, outdoor facilities, arenas, training facilities, breeding facilities, manure management, bulk feed and bedding storage, fencing and utilities. It also features information on fire protection and emergency response planning as well as appendixes on common fly species, general construction plans and wood preservatives. The authors are experts from Iowa State, Kansas State University, Pennsylvania State University and Oklahoma State University. Engineers, animal scientists and equine specialists from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma and Virginia also provided input. Cost of the handbook is $35, plus shipping and handling.
