Anex Named to U.S. EPA Advisory Group on Sustainability

AMES, Iowa —An Iowa State University faculty member has been named to the Science and Technology for Sustainability Subcommittee of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Board of Scientific Counselors. Robert Anex will serve a one-year term through 2009, providing expertise on life-cycle analysis of biorenewable and biobased product systems, the conversion of biomass to energy, industrial ecology and other areas. Anex, who joined the ISU faculty in 2003, is an associate professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering and associate director for research for ISU's Bioeconomy Institute. Members of the EPA's Board of Scientific Counselors and its subcommittees are distinguished scientists and engineers who are recognized experts in their fields. The Board of Scientific Counselors provides advice and recommendations for the scientific research arm of the EPA, the Office of Research and Development.
