Agronomy Now, Pediatrics in Future

Jordan Carswell-Bell is from Atlanta, Georgia and currently attends Alabama A&M University. Carswell-Bell is working with Madan Bhattacharyya, an agronomy professor, and Sivakumar Swaminathan, an assistant scientist, both in the agronomy department researching sudden death syndrome disease in soybeans. Carswell-Bell hopes her experience and contributes to her goal to pursue a career as a pediatrician once she graduates in 2018.

What advice do you have for someone who has a passion for science?
“Don’t be discouraged easily and you only fail if you don’t try.”

If you could have one superpower related to science what would it be?
“To finish a research paper with the snap of a finger.”

Who is your role model and why?
“My mom! She always gives more than 100 percent in anything she does.”

What is something you’d like to scratch off of your bucket list?
“Parasailing.”

What do you like most about Ames?
“The convenience of campus town and the bus. I also love the bunnies and chipmunk’s fearless attitudes.”
